John's agricultural background extends from the cow/calf operation that he grew up on in North Texas. He graduated from Texas A & M in 2000 with a bachelor's in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in farm and ranch management. Once out of school John went to work for Cactus Feeders from 2000 - 2005, who at that time was the largest cattle feeder in the United States. Joohn held various production management roles with Cactus Feeders. He started as Feed Delivery Manager in Syracuse, KS, which entailed the responsibilities of determining how much feed each pen received, insuring timely delivery of feed to each pen, and quality control of the feed. His next position was Shipping and Receiving Foreman in Hereford, TX. In this position John was responsible for cattle coming in and going out of the feedyard. John's next position was Yard Repair and Maintenance Manger, also in Hereford, TX. In this position he was responsible for repair and maintenance of the entire yard. This consisted of everything from the facilities, pens and equipment. In 2005 John went to work for Cargill Animal Nutrition as a merchandiser in Amarillo, TX and was responsible for merchandising thirteen different ingredients for six different feed mills in the southern area which catered to the feedyards, and farm stores in the area. He also had formulation and logistical responsibilities while with Cargill. John joined J.D. Heiskell and Co in April of this year as a feedlot sales representative and his main responsibilities are to break into to the untapped feedlot sector of the market in the Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico.
